The
Benefits of an Undermount Sink
Undermount kitchen sinks fit well in a
modern kitchen as they are easy to maintain and keep clean. They are also
referred to as recessed sinks as the sink is recessed into the kitchen surface.
Designing your kitchen with an undermounted sink may be a bit more time
consuming, and there are a few extra steps in the installation, but an
undermounted sink can be as cost effective as other types of sinks.
When you are looking at updating your kitchen sink there are a few reasons to
consider buying an undermounted sink:
-
As the sink actually fits underneath the kitchen counter – you can wipe the
kitchen surface right into the sink as there is no kitchen sink rim to hold
anything. So there is not the build of up of grime around the lip of the sink.
So an undermount sink is easier to clean and maintain.
-
The plumbing is usually covered by the cabinets, which means that you can keep
your kitchen tidy at all times
-
If installed correctly the undermount sink should offer a leak free performance
where the sinks meets the work surface, as the join is beneath the counter
rather than on top.
-
There is a wide range of sinks available including single, double or half
bowls. The two types of undermount sinks available are stainless steel or
ceramic sinks. The top two suppliers of undermounted sinks are
Astracast and
Franke. These suppliers have a wide range of single bowl, double bowl
or half bowl sinks. So having an undermounted sink doesn’t mean that you have
to compromise on design, in fact they add to the overall style and look of the
kitchen.
